Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the sale of Djed Spence to Inter Milan, with the transfer fee reportedly reaching £30 million. This move marks the end of Spence's four-year tenure at the North London club, a period punctuated by loan spells in three different countries, a Europa League winners' medal, and a notable World Cup campaign.

Spurs released a statement confirming the agreement with the Serie A champions on Saturday. Spence had been granted permission to travel to Milan earlier in the week, arriving at the city's airport in the early hours of Friday morning. Upon his arrival, he was captured on video by Sky Sport Italia enthusiastically proclaiming "Forza Inter" to onlookers.

The transfer agreement includes a 10% sell-on clause in favor of Middlesbrough, the club from which Tottenham initially signed Spence for £12.5 million, potentially rising to £20 million with add-ons, in July 2022.

Inter Milan is understood to be replacing Denzel Dumfries, who moved to Real Madrid earlier in the summer, with Spence. His versatility, being capable of operating on either flank, made him an attractive prospect for the Nerazzurri's wing-back system.

Tottenham's official statement read: “We have reached agreement with Internazionale for the transfer of Djed Spence. An arrival from Middlesbrough in July 2022, the defender made a total of 85 appearances in our colours, scoring twice.

“The 26-year-old spent time on loan with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, Leeds United and Italian outfit Genoa before returning to N17 in the summer of 2024 and helping the team to European glory in Bilbao in May 2025.

“Making his England debut in September 2025, Djed now has 14 caps to his name and featured for his country at this summer’s World Cup as the Three Lions reached the semi-final of the competition. We wish him well for the future.”
