Spain Dominates Croatia 4-1 in Nations League, Yamal Stars

Spain delivered a strong offensive performance, defeating Croatia 4-1 in Seville. Lamine Yamal was instrumental, netting two goals and contributing an assist.

The match began with Spain taking an early lead just 70 seconds in, courtesy of Yamal. Following good build-up play on the left involving Marc Cucurella and Alex Baena, Baena's pass found Yamal inside the box. The Barcelona winger controlled the ball and finished calmly into the far bottom corner with his left foot.

Croatia's goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic, kept his team in the game by saving Baena's attempt after another swift Spanish attack. Cucurella's follow-up shot was blocked.

Pau Cubarsi came close with a long-range shot before Croatia equalized in the 28th minute. Ivan Perisic delivered a precise cross, and Dion Beljo headed it into the top corner from close range, finding space between Cubarsi and Dean Huijsen.

Spain Regains the Lead

Spain quickly responded. Yamal took a short corner, exchanged passes with Fermin Lopez, and then delivered a cross to the back post. Marc Pubill rose above the Croatian defense to head the ball into the net in the 31st minute, restoring Spain's advantage.

Spain thought they had extended their lead five minutes later when Livakovic spilled Fermin's shot and Mikel Oyarzabal scored the rebound. However, the striker was flagged offside.

Fermin himself came close to scoring before halftime, cutting inside and striking the far post with a low shot.

Croatia made a substitution at the break, bringing on Luka Vuskovic for the cautioned Marin Pongracic, but Spain maintained control of the game.

Lamine Yamal continued to be a key player for Spain and scored his second goal in the 63rd minute. Pedri played an incisive pass through the left side of Croatia's defense, allowing Yamal to race into the area and score with a left-footed shot from a tight angle into the near post.

Yamal was substituted for Victor Munoz in the 68th minute, receiving a standing ovation for his two goals and assist.

Croatia's Franjo Ivanovic had a chance, curling an effort just wide, but Spain reasserted their dominance.

Pedri tested Livakovic from distance. Spain then sealed their victory in the 89th minute. Mikel Merino played a quick pass through Croatia's defense, and Nico Williams outpaced Josko Gvardiol before finishing calmly in a one-on-one situation.

Luka Modric entered the game for the final nine minutes and was applauded by the home crowd, but Croatia could not mount a late comeback.
