Tuchel Hails 'Complete Performance' as England Thrashes Croatia

Thomas Tuchel praised his team's "complete performance" following England's 7-0 demolition of Croatia, a significant result during his tenure.

The Three Lions dominated in Rijeka, with Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka both scoring twice. Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon, and substitute Morgan Rogers also added goals.

After a challenging 3-2 loss to Spain and a less convincing 2-0 win against Czechia, this match signaled England's intent against a Croatia side with whom they have had past difficulties.

The difference in class was clear. Tuchel expressed his satisfaction with his players' display.

“Except for about three minutes after we went up 3-0, when we made a big mistake and lost possession easily, the rest was a 90-minute performance at the highest level,” Tuchel told ITV. “From everyone, from start to finish. Congratulations to the team.

“We were very, very impressive. We created numerous chances. It was fluid from the beginning and never stopped. We were clinical, stayed hungry, pressed effectively, and executed the basics correctly. That’s why it was a complete performance.”

England's 'Frightening' Talent

While the result dominated post-match discussions, pre-game attention focused on Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who made his full senior debut for the national team.

The 23-year-old delivered a composed performance, holding his own against an experienced Croatian midfield that included 41-year-old Luka Modric.

Scott commented that there was “no better feeling” and that “to start with a win like that is amazing”.

“We aimed to challenge Croatia as much as possible, and we achieved that today… pressing high… regaining the ball… being ruthless in the final third,” he added.

Scott described England's current pool of talent as “frightening” but stressed the team must now “build on this” and “go again”.

Scott, Tuchel, and the team will soon face Czechia again on Tuesday at Wembley, aiming for their third Nations League victory in four matches.
