Tour Edge: Your Comprehensive Golf Equipment Destination
Celebrating its 40th anniversary and recent rebrand, Tour Edge Golf continues to solidify its position as a leading innovator in the golf equipment industry. The company expertly balances its offerings between high-quality game-improvement clubs from the Hot Launch series and premium performance clubs under the Exotics line, making it a true dual threat.
A significant part of this brand evolution includes the introduction of a sleek new "TE" logo, replacing founder David Glod’s iconic "Red Line," and a strategic debut into the golf ball market. These initiatives are designed to attract a younger generation of golfers while retaining appeal for all players, from those seeking easy-to-hit game-improvement clubs to those desiring tour-quality drivers, fairway woods, and irons.
Jon Claffey, Tour Edge’s Vice President of Marketing, highlights a key aspect of the rebrand: "We no longer emphasize price points; our priority is performance, aiming to elevate standards across the board."
Tour Edge effectively achieves these goals throughout its latest Hot Launch and Exotics lineups.
For example, the Exotics LD driver, with its compact 440cc head, is engineered for low spin and high ball speed, featuring movable weights for maximum workability. The Exotics Max driver, praised for its stunning matte black carbon fiber crown, offers three-position weighting to facilitate draw, fade, or neutral shot biases. Claffey enthusiastically described the Exotics Max driver as "a beast."
The Hot Launch Max and Max D series—including drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons, and wedges—are designed for exceptional forgiveness, higher launch angles, and increased distance. These clubs offer premium yet accessible performance through their two-piece construction. Reflecting Tour Edge's foundational commitment to game improvement and affordability, the Max D series specifically incorporates an offset hosel, reinforcing its roots in enhancing player experience.
While Exotics drivers and fairway woods have consistently been strong performers for Tour Edge for over six years, the Batavia, Illinois-based company has significantly enhanced its iron offerings with three new models.
According to Glod, the elegant Exotics MB and CB irons are meticulously crafted to complement each other, allowing skilled players to create personalized combination sets. They share common design lines, weighting, aesthetic elements, and parallel performance characteristics. Their forged construction combined with CNC milling on the face ensures precise consistency and a soft feel, while carefully machined grooves enhance spin control and stopping power.
For golfers seeking an intermediate option between pure game-improvement irons, the new Max iron is an ideal solution. It boasts a Pyramid Face and a 360-degree undercut design, delivering exceptional forgiveness and consistent distance.
Claffey asserted, "We believe we appeal to every type of player more effectively than any other manufacturer because we consider the entire market spectrum."
This comprehensive approach now extends to golf balls, a strategic initiative spearheaded by new company President Tim Clarke, a highly respected industry executive and former president of Wilson Golf. Tour Edge currently offers two golf ball models: the Exotics, a three-piece cast urethane ball engineered for Tour-level performance, high spin, and control; and the Hot Launch, a two-piece Surlyn-covered ball designed for maximum distance, high launch, and exceptional value.
Claffey credits Clarke for this expansion, noting, "That was Tim's vision. We weren't considering golf balls before his arrival; he brought invaluable expertise." Claffey added that Clarke's strategy was to keep the ball offerings focused – "no colors or variations" – and launch with a strong product that "is changing consumers' minds on its own." His goal was for Tour Edge to become a "full-service store" for its customers, a strategy that has proven highly successful.
