World No. 60 Joao Fonseca spoke about his tennis idols.
In an interview, he was asked about what it`s like to be a role model, especially for young fans inspired by his game. The question was: “You are becoming an idol for many people, especially for young people. And who was your idol when you were a child?”
Fonseca replied that it was an interesting question. He noticed the noise around and said: “Do you hear that? Two years ago, I was asking for autographs from stars myself, and now kids are asking for my autograph and saying that I am their idol and source of inspiration.”
In his childhood, he was inspired by Roger Federer, whom he loved very much. He also mentioned Gustavo Kuerten, a Brazilian hero. Fonseca admired Kuerten not only for his tennis but also for his charisma, his ability to give interviews, and his love for Brazil.
“I also really love representing my country,” added the 18-year-old Brazilian tennis player in an interview with Tennis Channel.
