As the striker watched the remainder of the match from the bench, a fan invaded the pitch and ran towards the Norway dugout.
The individual sprinted in the direction of the dugout, and appeared to be reaching into his pocket as he approached.
Haaland was seated at the end of the bench, closest to the approaching fan, when Brede Hangeland intervened.
Hangeland, the former defender and current Norway assistant coach, tackled the pitch invader, preventing him from reaching Haaland.
Security personnel then intervened, removing the man from the field as he continued to resist.
Fans online described the incident as “terrifying” and “scary,” expressing concern over the security breach.
Brede Hangeland, who acted as a “human shield,” is well-known to football fans for his successful seven-year career at Fulham, where he played 270 games between 2008 and 2014.
