UFC CEO Dana White confirmed that the highly anticipated middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev is indeed scheduled, but he clarified that it will not happen at the UFC 317 event in June as some had speculated.
Speaking at a press conference, White stated, “Yes, yesterday I announced several fights, but that one was not among them. We all know the fight between Chimaev and Du Plessis will happen, but it won`t be during International Fight Week [when UFC 317 is scheduled]. The match is planned, but it will take place at a different venue.”
This statement follows previous rumors suggesting Du Plessis might be sidelined by an injury, information that the champion himself later denied.
