Fabricio Werdum has explained his choice not to participate in the Global Fighting League (GFL) tournament.

According to Werdum, the opportunity to fight Frank Mir was the primary driver behind his comeback. However, when Mir announced his withdrawal from the fight, Werdum`s motivation diminished significantly.

On the Mundo da Luta podcast, Werdum elaborated, “The fight with Frank Mir was what motivated me to return. Once he announced his withdrawal, my motivation disappeared as well. I had been preparing for the fight, and the atmosphere in the gym was fantastic. It was a truly great experience to train again with Master Rafael Cordeira, Wanderlei Silva, Andre Dida, Bruno Ferreira, and Bruno Silva. However, I require motivation to compete, and with the Mir fight falling through, I lost that drive.”
