World No. 4 American Taylor Fritz has commented on reaching the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. In his second-round match, he defeated Christopher O`Connell of Australia with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
“It felt good to be back and play a truly solid match,” Fritz said. “I didn`t want to jinx it pre-match, but I had mentioned to my coach how genuinely impressed I was with the level I`d hit during training the last couple of days. I`m really pleased I could replicate that level, especially with limited preparation time.”
The reigning champion of the Madrid tournament is Russia`s Andrey Rublev. The event in the Spanish capital takes place from April 23 to May 4.
