Virgil van Dijk has indicated that he is nearing a new contract agreement with Liverpool.
The Liverpool team captain`s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, along with those of key players Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk has shared positive news for Liverpool supporters, confirming that he and his representatives have had productive discussions with the club regarding his contract.
When questioned about his contract situation, Van Dijk acknowledged, “There is progress, yes.”
When further asked if he would definitely be staying, he responded, “I don’t know, we’ll see. Listen, these are internal discussions and we’ll see.”
It is understood that Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
Regarding striker Salah, negotiations for a new contract are ongoing, with Liverpool hoping he will remain, although they are reportedly hesitant to meet his wage demands of £400,000 per week.
Van Dijk, 33, has been a pivotal signing for Liverpool since his arrival from Southampton in 2018 for £75 million.
Reflecting on their recent 3-2 defeat to Fulham, Van Dijk commented, “I love the club, I love the fans, and they supported us again at Fulham, and we wanted to reward them.”
“I want them to be there again on Sunday and create the amazing atmosphere they always do for us at the stadium.”
The upcoming game Van Dijk mentioned is against West Ham.
Liverpool currently holds an 11-point lead at the top of the league table with seven games remaining.
Manager Arne Slot was reportedly disappointed after The Reds conceded three goals in the first 14 minutes against Fulham.
Van Dijk explained, “We can discuss tactics, but the manager said it came down to our sloppiness and allowing them to score three goals.”
“It was unacceptable for us as a team.”

“However, we had another 50 minutes in the second half to try and turn the game around, and that was our focus, but unfortunately, we couldn’t achieve it.”
“It was a poor performance from all of us. Individual errors led to moments they capitalized on.”
“In football, mistakes happen, but if you allow the opposition back into the game, as we did, they scored three goals and put us on the back foot.”
“Nobody is perfect, and we were careless and were quickly punished.”
