The TGL playoffs continued on Tuesday night with a match between The Bay Golf Club and Atlanta Drive Golf Club.

The Bay GC, seeded No. 2, had previously suffered their only loss of the season against Los Angeles Golf Club on March 3, which cost them the top playoff seed. Atlanta Drive GC, seeded third, had only lost once this season, against The Bay on February 17.

The active players for The Bay were Min Woo Lee, Ludvig Åberg, and Shane Lowry, while Wyndham Clark was inactive. Representing Atlanta were Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, and Patrick Cantlay, with Lucas Glover inactive.

Atlanta secured a 9-3 victory over The Bay and will now proceed to the finals. They are set to compete against New York GC in a best-of-three series on March 24th and 25th.

Here are some of the top moments from Tuesday’s TGL playoff match.

Lee Hits Drive at 190 MPH

Continuing his strong regular season performance as the league leader in both average driver distance and speed, Lee impressively drove his first ball of the night 328 yards, reaching a peak speed of 190 miles per hour.

Star-Studded Playoff Golf

The second match of the TGL semifinals attracted a number of notable personalities. Among the attendees were former NFL quarterback Michael Vick, former Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones, golfer Rory McIlroy, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., and tight end Kyle Pitts.

Lowry’s Near Miss from the Bunker

In an attempt to prevent Atlanta from scoring on Hole 8, Lowry executed a remarkable 40-foot chip shot from the bunker for par. The shot was almost perfect in its trajectory, but the ball just veered off course at the last moment before reaching the hole.

Thomas Gets Lucky on Hole 10

During his second shot on Hole 10, Thomas benefited from a stroke of luck. His ball, initially heading out of bounds, bounced back into play after hitting a restricted area. Even Rory McIlroy, commentating on the broadcast, remarked it was ‘the luckiest bounce’ he had ever witnessed.

Cantlay’s Near Hole-in-One Seals the Win

Facing elimination, The Bay strategically used their last ‘hammer’ on Hole 12 to double the hole’s point value. However, Cantlay immediately countered by hitting a shot that nearly resulted in a hole-in-one.

The ball landed just under four feet from the hole. To guarantee their victory, Atlanta also played their final ‘hammer’ of the match, tripling the points for the hole. Cantlay then successfully made the putt, securing the win for Atlanta.
