American tennis star Taylor Fritz, currently ranked World No. 5, recently shared his ambitious career aspirations and offered insights into the competitive landscape, specifically addressing his rivalry with fellow top players Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
For me, the first and main goal is to win a Grand Slam tournament. I think if I can achieve that, then I can start thinking about trying to become world No. 1.
Fritz further elaborated on the current ATP rankings and the formidable presence of his peers. “In the rankings, directly behind Sinner and Alcaraz, it`s me and Sascha Zverev,” he explained. He also acknowledged the enduring legacy of a tennis icon: “I know Novak Djokovic is still there too, but it`s uncertain how much longer he`ll be playing.”
The 26-year-old American underscored his determination to contend for the sport`s most coveted prizes. “Besides Carlos and Sinner, there are only a few players right now who can realistically fight for major trophies. I am working very hard to be among them,” Fritz stated in an interview with Olympics.com.
Reflecting on a significant past victory, Fritz previously noted how his win over Carlos Alcaraz significantly boosted his confidence: “It really strengthened my belief that I`m ready to win a match like that in a major tournament.” This testament highlights his growing conviction in his ability to perform at the highest level and secure major titles.
