Former world No. 14, Poland`s Jerzy Janowicz, has stirred discussion by stating that the current generation`s rising stars, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, are not as captivating to watch as the legendary trio of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. Janowicz, who faced each member of the `Big Three` during his professional career without ever securing a victory against them, articulated a clear preference for the previous era.
He expressed a deep longing for the intense rivalries that once defined men`s tennis:
“I genuinely miss the competition between Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. And also Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, and David Ferrer.”
Janowicz continued, elaborating on his view of contemporary tennis:
“Today, everything in tennis seems more tedious to me; it feels as if everyone plays in a similar fashion. Perhaps I am a bit nostalgic, but they were by far the most interesting to watch, much more so than Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, even though Sinner and Alcaraz are undeniably strong players.”
These remarks were made by Janowicz at a Padel Cup event held in Turin.
