World No. 10 Holger Rune has explained his decision to withdraw from the ATP 500 tournament in Hamburg.
The Danish player stated that after the tournament in Rome, he underwent numerous tests in Denmark because he had “been feeling unwell for a long time.” These examinations revealed that a throat infection, which antibiotics failed to fully clear after Indian Wells, was still present, along with a new stomach infection.
Rune mentioned that he is currently taking strong antibiotics and is looking forward to feeling better. He reassured that despite these issues, his health is otherwise good. The athlete acknowledged that the spring season was challenging but expressed his strong desire to return to the court fully recovered as soon as possible. Finally, he thanked his fans for their support during both good and difficult times.
