Roland Garros Tournament Director Amelie Mauresmo expressed support for discussions regarding Grand Slam prize money, stating she was “very happy that a direct dialogue has finally begun.”
Her comments follow a letter previously signed and sent by representatives from the ATP and WTA to Grand Slam organizers, demanding an increase in prize funds.
“I say this as a former player,” Mauresmo added during a press conference after the tournament. “There are no intermediaries here who might have interests different from those of the players themselves. I believe that when there is open communication, everything can move in the right direction for all parties involved.”
“Once the real figures are announced, I am confident the process will go the right way,” she continued. “The main goal is for everything to move in the right direction and benefit everyone.”
