Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick, the 2003 US Open champion, has shared his thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz`s recent dip in form and offered advice to the world No. 3.

Roddick suggests, “What I`d like to see from Carlos is for him to step onto the court and set a goal for the first six games: to `take the legs` out of his opponent. He needs to demonstrate that his ball is heavier and force his opponent into defensive positions early on. I don’t think Carlos enjoys being on the losing end. He thrives on dictating play; it`s his superpower. However, this strength can become a weakness if not utilized effectively.”

Roddick added, “By the time he becomes comfortable playing rallies of 10 or 12 shots, he might get bored. But knowing that his opponent is pinned back because of his speed and ability to accelerate from any position is key. I think he needs to embrace the grind sometimes.”
