Sports news » Richard Gasquet: My Biggest Career Regret Was Not Winning a Grand Slam

Former world number 7, Richard Gasquet, has revealed the primary regret of his extensive tennis career. He is set to retire from professional tennis following this year`s Roland Garros tournament.

“Of course, my main regret is not having won a Grand Slam tournament. However, I quickly understood how challenging that would be, seeing the immense strength of the players from that generation. I managed to reach the semifinals three times and genuinely believed I had a chance to win, but each time I was defeated. I did reach seventh place in the world rankings, although I had aimed for the Top 5. But that`s also acceptable,” Gasquet commented.

He added, “What I enjoyed most was managing to defeat those exceptional opponents, even if it didn`t happen consistently.”
