Liverpool has received a significant advantage in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki.
Lyon has decided to sell Cherki, 21, in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, will face stiff competition from other clubs.

Cherki has been impressive this season for Lyon, contributing eight goals and 18 assists. This performance marks him as one of the most promising young talents in French football.
Major European clubs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have shown interest in the French Under-21 international. Clubs in Italy are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
Cherki stood out in a recent friendly match against England U21s, where France won 5-3.
In that game, Cherki scored a goal and provided two assists, delivering a man-of-the-match performance.
Previously, Fulham and Crystal Palace have also been interested in signing Cherki. Fulham made an unsuccessful bid in January 2024.
Borussia Dortmund`s £19 million offer was also rejected in January, as they believed it would trigger a release clause, which was not the case.
Now, Cherki and Lyon have reached an agreement that will allow him to leave the club at the end of the current season.
Cherki`s contract with Lyon is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

Cherki will have an opportunity to further impress potential suitors when Lyon plays against Manchester United in the Europa League quarter-finals in April.
Separately, reports indicate that Liverpool is also interested in Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
