Former UFC lightweight title challenger Dustin Poirier has commented on what he perceives as a significant “generational shift” presently occurring within the promotion.
Poirier reflected on earlier periods, stating, “Right now, there is a changing of the guard in the league. I witnessed the previous era with St-Pierre and BJ Penn, which I observed as a fan. Then I had to see how everything transitioned to a new era. And now we are experiencing something similar.” He added, referencing key veterans, “I am leaving. Justin Gaethje is leaving. Kamaru Usman has a few fights left. Right now, a changing of the guard is happening.”
