UFC lightweight prospect Paddy Pimblett has articulated his reasons for being the ideal next challenger for reigning division champion Ilia Topuria.
Addressing the discussions around potential contenders, Pimblett stated, “People are suggesting Gaethje should be the next challenger. However, Justin recently secured a win against a fighter ranked 11th or 12th, following his defeat to Max Holloway last year.”
He acknowledged, “One could certainly make arguments for Gaethje. Nevertheless, I believe Ilia and I share a significant history. Aside from a hypothetical clash between Islam Makhachev and Ilia – a matchup between two of the UFC`s top pound-for-pound fighters – I genuinely believe my bout with Topuria represents the most spectacular and anticipated fight that can currently be made in the UFC.”
