Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated that neither he nor his team deserve bonuses for winning the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, especially after a disappointing Premier League season.
Despite the significant £100 million prize money for the Club World Cup winners, Guardiola feels that bonuses are not warranted due to the team`s domestic performance.
Guardiola emphasized that any victory in the Club World Cup would be for the honor of the club, not for personal financial gain, given their current form.
Traditionally, Manchester City players have received substantial bonuses for trophy wins, but Guardiola believes this season should be different.
However, Guardiola noted that winning the FA Cup could still provide some redemption for their season. Manchester City is set to play against Bournemouth in the quarter-finals.
Speaking about Bournemouth, Guardiola acknowledged their unique and effective style of play, contrasting it with other teams` approaches.
Guardiola is aiming to join a select group of managers who have won the FA Cup three times, alongside legendary figures like Bill Nicholson, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Arsene Wenger.
