Spanish world number 10 Paula Badosa has advanced to the quarterfinals of the clay court tournament in Strasbourg, France. Her second-round opponent, Czech Marie Bouzkova, ranked 50th, retired from the match with the score tied at 3-3 in the first set.
Speaking about the match and her progress, Badosa commented: “The score was 3-3, but it was already a very long match, 40 minutes. With Marie, it`s always a battle. And I`m very sorry for what happened to her. It was in the middle of the match, so it was unexpected.”
She added: “I am happy to be back after two months. It was a tough road, so finally coming back and getting minutes on court, I really value it. I am still very far from my level, but I hope I can reach it soon.”
