“It`s unpleasant to be humiliated like that on the court, but I`m giving my best.”
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam title winner and currently ranked world No. 5, shared his thoughts after his defeat to Italian Jannik Sinner (world No. 2) in the semifinals of the Six Kings Slam tournament. The match concluded with a score of 4/6, 2/6 in Sinner`s favor.
Djokovic stated: “My love and passion for tennis are still very much alive. I apologize for my directness, but it`s unpleasant when you are humiliated like that on the court. Nevertheless, it`s incredible to remain at such a level. Being in the top 5 or top 10 is great. I give my all. I have the body I have, and I am grateful for everything life has given me. It has been an amazing journey, full of reasons for joy.”
He added with a touch of humor: “Of course, I wouldn`t mind swapping bodies with someone younger for at least a year, just to try and beat these guys. That would be cool. But, seriously, the competitive spirit still burns within me. I realize it`s getting harder and harder to defeat Jannik and Carlos. However, I will continue to challenge them until I achieve success.” Djokovic shared these thoughts during an on-court interview at the Six Kings Slam tournament.
