According to reports, Nottingham Forest is showing interest in signing England international Jordan Henderson.
The former Liverpool captain is attracting attention from multiple clubs.
Additionally, French club Marseille is reportedly monitoring Henderson`s status.
According to the Daily Mail, the midfielder has a contract clause allowing him to depart Ajax without a transfer fee, a detail that has caught the attention of Forest.
Should this clause be activated before mid-July, Henderson would be free to leave the Dutch team at no cost.
A move back to the Premier League could be appealing for the 35-year-old, particularly as he aims to participate in next year`s World Cup.
Henderson was recently brought back into the squad, with the manager reportedly describing him as the “glue” for the group.
Forest could also provide the experienced player with European football, having qualified for the Conference League.
In January, Henderson was involved in transfer controversy and nearly moved from Ajax to Monaco.
Reports claimed the 84-time England international had agreed personal terms with the French side, but Ajax reportedly blocked the transfer.
Sources reported that Henderson had requested a departure from the Dutch club and was even said to have threatened a refusal to play if his transfer was prevented.
Furthermore, in a reported act of frustration over being denied a move, Henderson allegedly REFUSED to wear the captain`s armband during Ajax`s 2-1 Europa League victory against Galatasaray.
The issues reportedly continued, as Henderson apparently did not celebrate Ajax`s goals in that match.
He also appeared to wave goodbye to supporters upon being substituted in the 77th minute.
Henderson has also been previously mentioned in connection with a potential return to his boyhood club, Sunderland.
