Newcastle United has confirmed that their head coach, Eddie Howe, is still recovering from pneumonia.
The 47-year-old was hospitalized on Friday night due to illness, causing him to miss his scheduled pre-match press conference.

As a result, he was absent from Sunday’s game against Manchester United at St James` Park, with his assistant manager, Jason Tindall, taking charge of the team.
Newcastle United has now announced that Howe remains in hospital as he battles pneumonia.
The club stated that he will not be present for the upcoming games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa as he continues his recovery.
The official statement from Newcastle United read: “Newcastle United can confirm that Eddie Howe is recovering in hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.”
“The club sends its best wishes and support to Eddie and his family during his ongoing recovery.”
“Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will manage the team for the matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa this week. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
Eddie Howe also released a statement expressing his gratitude to the hospital staff and well-wishers.
He said: “A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and kind words. They mean a great deal to me and my family.”
“I also want to express my sincere appreciation to the incredible NHS and the hospital staff who are looking after me.”
“I am extremely thankful for the expert care I am receiving and, after a period of recuperation, I am looking forward to returning as soon as possible.”
Bruno Guimaraes dedicated Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday to Howe.
He said: “Before the match, we said we would play for him.”
“He has been amazing for us. We missed his presence in training.”
“Hopefully, this win brought him joy, and he will be back for our next game. It has been a challenging week for him.”
Harvey Barnes added: “He is on the path to recovery, we hope. He has a massive influence throughout the week.”
“We knew we had a responsibility to perform without him. We said before the game we needed to give him something to smile about.”
It is possible that Howe could be back on the sidelines for Newcastle’s game against Ipswich next Saturday.
