Newcastle United is reportedly looking to offer Jack Grealish a way out of Manchester City, but only on a temporary loan basis. The 29-year-old winger, whose future at the Etihad Stadium appears uncertain, is a target for the Magpies.

Grealish, a £100 million signing, was notably excluded from City`s Fifa Club World Cup squad, signaling his diminished role under manager Pep Guardiola. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is prepared to formalize an offer if City decides to loan out Grealish, especially considering his substantial £300,000-a-week salary. This potential move would become an even higher priority for Newcastle should offers for Anthony Gordon emerge this summer.
While Grealish is expected to attract interest from several clubs, his hefty wages make a permanent transfer challenging for most. It`s suggested that Manchester City might need to partially cover his salary for a year to facilitate a loan deal. The Citizens are reportedly willing to incur a significant loss of around £60 million on their record signing if a transfer materializes.
Grealish`s performance in the 2024-25 Premier League season was underwhelming, with just one goal and one assist. His discontent with Guardiola`s management became apparent when the playmaker seemingly criticized his manager on social media.

This followed comments from former Aston Villa teammate Gabriel Agbonlahor, who suggested Guardiola`s decision to hand Claudio Echeverri his debut in the FA Cup final instead of Grealish was “personal” and a tactic to push him out. Grealish`s sarcastic reply, asking “What u want me to do score a hatty in 20?” (referring to limited substitute appearances), highlighted his frustration.

Similar situations have reportedly led to the departures of other key players under Guardiola, such as Kevin De Bruyne, with Kyle Walker and John Stones potentially facing similar fates. Meanwhile, Manchester City is actively strengthening its squad with new acquisitions, including AC Milan`s Tijjani Reijnders (£46.2m), Lyon`s Rayan Cherki (£30m), and Wolves` Rayan Ait-Nouri (£34m), further indicating a shift in the team`s composition.
