Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Naomi Osaka, recently shared his perspective on Novak Djokovic`s performance during the current clay court season.

Mouratoglou expressed his surprise regarding Djokovic`s approach in the Monte Carlo and Madrid tournaments, stating: “What surprised me greatly about Novak`s play in Monte Carlo and Madrid was not his level, but his attitude. It seemed like he didn`t want to win at all.”

He added, “Of course, he is capable of playing much better. This is Novak Djokovic. But he didn`t look physically ready or psychologically engaged. And if a player of his caliber lacks motivation, there`s no point in stepping onto the court.”

Concluding his analysis, Mouratoglou addressed Djokovic`s recent decision to compete in the Geneva Open: “Now his decision to compete in Geneva makes sense. He wants to regain some winning rhythm before Paris. The main question is: will that be enough?”
