17-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, currently the top-ranked player in Russia, addressed concerns about her health and physical condition after losing to American Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.

“Everything is fine now. I wouldn’t say that I lost solely because of my health,” Andreeva stated. “Anisimova played a very strong match. I had opportunities, but I didn`t capitalize on them.”

Andreeva downplayed worries about her physical state, despite recent successes at major tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells.

“Of course, you get a little tired, but you have to keep playing and know that rest will come eventually. I wouldn’t say I’m extremely exhausted,” Andreeva commented. She is continuing to compete in the doubles event in Miami.

It was previously reported that Andreeva experienced stomach pain starting three hours before her match with Anisimova, and the pain persisted during the game. She called for a doctor multiple times during the first set.
