Seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander recently shared his assessment of Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev. According to Wilander, the former world number one should consistently reach the quarter-final stage of Grand Slam tournaments.
A player of Medvedev`s caliber should always be capable of reaching a Grand Slam quarter-final.
Wilander elaborated further, drawing a parallel between current and past generations of players: “This generation — Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, and Ruud — reminds me of the generation that included Dimitrov, Cilic, and Nishikori. For them, it was incredibly challenging to compete for titles because Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, and Wawrinka were so dominant. Now, we face a similar situation with Sinner and Alcaraz emerging.”
