Rory McIlroy`s four-year-old daughter, Poppy, became the star of the Masters Par 3 contest on Wednesday. She astonished onlookers by sinking a remarkable 25-foot downhill putt with apparent ease.
Expectations were understandably low when Poppy approached her ball on the ninth green, holding her putter with just one hand. However, she delivered a delightful surprise. With a gentle tap, the ball began to roll, curving perfectly towards the hole.
As the ball dropped into the cup, Rory Lowry reacted with joyful disbelief, throwing his hands up in the air. Poppy celebrated her successful putt with a heartwarming hug from her proud father.
McIlroy shared with reporters, “After waiting nine months since the last major, spending a fun afternoon like this is wonderful preparation.”
He added, “If you`re not ready by this point, it`s too late. Now it`s time to enjoy ourselves, go home for dinner, and get some rest for Thursday.”
McIlroy is considered a top contender for this year`s Masters, which starts on Thursday. He is aiming to secure the coveted green jacket and become only the sixth golfer to achieve a career Grand Slam.
