Manchester United is set to miss out on substantial revenue following the recent launch of their new training kit for the 2025/2026 season. The Red Devils revealed their latest training apparel without a sponsor`s logo, a detail many supporters were quick to notice and criticize, with some describing the situation as “embarrassing.”
Typically, clubs secure separate sponsorship deals for their primary playing kits and their training wear. United`s partnership with the blockchain company Tezos, previously worth approximately £24 million annually, expired on June 30. Consequently, the Premier League club, which has faced challenges lately, introduced their new plum-coloured training gear on Tuesday for manager Ruben Amorim`s sessions without a branding partner.
This current lack of a sponsor means the club is foregoing a significant financial income stream.
The absence of a sponsor logo on the training kit did not go unnoticed by fans, prompting swift reactions online. One fan commented: “Not surprising. There`s not many want to be associated with us.” Another expressed frustration, simply stating: “Shambolic.”
Sources close to the club had previously indicated that a new training kit sponsor was expected to be confirmed shortly after the Tezos agreement concluded. However, according to reports from the Manchester Evening News, there are currently no immediate deals in the pipeline to secure a replacement sponsor.
For the past three years, the Tezos logo was prominently displayed on the training kits worn by both the men`s first team and the women`s squad. Securing a new sponsor for the training kit as soon as possible will be vital for Manchester United, particularly given the club is reportedly facing financial pressures, and this revenue helps balance the books.
Manchester United released a series of promotional images showcasing players in the new training strip, including various items like jackets and coats. Players featured in these photos included Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, and new arrival Leny Yoro. Notably, Alejandro Garnacho, whose future at the club is uncertain amid transfer rumours, was also part of the promotional campaign.
Just last month, Matheus Cunha was pictured wearing a Tezos-branded hoodie during his official unveiling photos after joining from Wolves. Moving forward, it appears any new signings will be photographed in sponsor-free training attire.
The news regarding the termination of the Tezos training sponsorship follows the earlier report that Marriott International would also not be renewing its 2019 sponsorship deal when its contract ended. Meanwhile, Snapdragon continues to sponsor the club`s main matchday kits under a substantial five-year agreement valued at £300 million.
Manager Ruben Amorim`s team is scheduled to begin their Premier League season on August 17 with a home fixture against Arsenal.
