Daniel Farke`s position as Leeds United manager is reportedly under threat, despite having just guided the club to promotion back to the Premier League.

Farke, the German manager, has now achieved his third promotion to the top flight, having previously led Norwich City up in 2019 and 2021.

However, Farke must now reportedly persuade the club`s American owners, 49ers Enterprises, that he is the suitable candidate to manage the team in the upcoming Premier League season.

The club`s leadership is said to be undecided and hasn`t compiled a list of alternatives, aware that sacking a manager fresh off a promotion would likely provoke significant backlash.

Despite the success, Farke has apparently faced disapproval from some Leeds supporters throughout the season, with criticisms levelled at his tactics, substitution choices, and his former insistence on selecting goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Farke took charge following Leeds` relegation in 2023, guiding them to the play-offs in his first season, where they were defeated by Southampton in the final.

Concerns among the Leeds owners reportedly stem from Farke`s prior performance in the Premier League, where his win percentage stands at a mere 12%.

With Norwich, he finished bottom of the league in 2020. After immediately securing promotion again, he was dismissed in November 2021 after the team only accumulated five points from their opening eleven matches.

This history has reportedly prompted the club to consider other potential managers, although no definitive decision has been reached yet.

Sources inside the club are reportedly aware that dismissing Farke after his promotion success would be a controversial move, likely resulting in significant fan opposition.

On Monday, celebrating fans outside Elland Road reportedly chanted Farke`s name, with the 48-year-old manager acknowledging their applause and support.

Leeds currently sit on 94 points and could reach a total of 100 for the season if they secure victories in their final two fixtures.

Should Farke be removed, Leeds might reportedly attempt to re-sign Carlos Corberan, a Spaniard who previously served as assistant under Marcelo Bielsa and has since had successful spells managing Huddersfield and West Brom.

Other managers reportedly linked with the potential vacancy include Steven Gerrard, Patrick Vieira, and Jose Mourinho.
