Российский теннисист Карен Хачанов, занимающий 10-ю строчку мирового рейтинга, поделился своими размышлениями о том, повлияло ли его участие в парном турнире на поражение от китайца Цзюнчэна Шана (со счётом 6/7 (3), 3/6) во втором круге одиночного `Мастерса` в Шанхае.
После проигрыша в одиночном разряде Хачанова спросили о потенциальной взаимосвязи с его выступлением в паре. Напомним, что его напарник Андрей Рублёв также ранее выбыл из турнира.
“Честно говоря, я не думаю, что это напрямую связано”, — заявил Хачанов. “Мы приехали сюда позже из Пекина, именно из-за участия в паре. Когда ты находишься на серии турниров, будь то в Америке или Азии, и выбываешь из одиночки, всё равно хочется остаться, испытать эмоции, адреналин и продолжить соревноваться. Поэтому мы решили, что участие в парном матче будет полезным, хотя условия здесь совсем другие — пот льёт ручьями.”
Карен также отметил сложности окружающей среды: “Влажность, жара, компактные корты… Хотелось бы больше времени на адаптацию, и этого, возможно, отчасти не хватило.”
“Но основная проблема кроется в динамике одиночных матчей. Когда делаешь паузу, можно больше тренироваться и готовиться, но затем нужно преодолеть первый матч, войти в ритм турнира и снова почувствовать эту динамику. Возможно, в этот раз именно этого и не хватило”, — заключил Хачанов на пресс-конференции.
Karen Khachanov Clarifies Link Between Shanghai Singles Loss and Doubles Play
World No. 10 Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov has offered his perspective on whether his participation in the doubles tournament contributed to his defeat against China`s Juncheng Shang (6/7 (3), 3/6) in the second round of the singles `Masters` in Shanghai.
Following his singles exit, Khachanov was directly asked if his doubles play had an impact on his results. Notably, his doubles partner, Andrey Rublev, had also been eliminated from the tournament earlier.
“To be honest, I don`t believe there`s a direct connection,” Khachanov stated. “We arrived here later from Beijing, precisely because of our doubles commitments. When you`re competing in a series of tournaments, whether it`s the American or Asian swing, and you get knocked out of the singles, you still want to stay, experience the emotions, the adrenaline, and continue competing. That`s why we decided that playing a doubles match would be beneficial, even though the conditions here are quite different — you`re sweating profusely.”
Khachanov also highlighted the challenging environmental factors: “The humidity, the heat, the compact courts… I would have preferred more time to adapt, and perhaps that was somewhat lacking.”
“However, the main issue lies in the dynamics of singles matches. When you take a break, you can train and prepare more, but then you need to get through that first match, find the tournament rhythm, and feel that dynamic again. Perhaps, this time, that`s exactly what was missing,” Khachanov concluded during the press conference.
