Former coach of Carlos Alcaraz, Juan Carlos Ferrero, addressed whether the World No. 1 would look for another high-profile tennis figure to replace him on the coaching team.
Ferrero and Alcaraz concluded their long-term cooperation last week. Alcaraz’s sole tennis coach is now Samuel López, who originally joined the team in late 2024.
`Long relationships can be tiring, so it was crucial for us to bring in an assistant coach to inject fresh ideas. The weeks when Samuel worked with him allowed us to rest from each other, and then I would return to work fully refreshed.
Samuel has enough experience to coach Carlos independently. However, once some time passes, after two or three seasons without any breaks, they might consider bringing in a new coach so Samuel can get some rest,` said Ferrero during an interview on radio RNE.
