Renowned Portuguese journalist José Morgado has taken note of the remarkable transformation of Daniil Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion and world No. 11, during his first-round match at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Medvedev indeed shed several layers of clothing as the match progressed. He began the match wearing a turtleneck and leggings but had discarded them by the second set.
“One match and three Daniils,” Morgado quipped, commenting on a screenshot from the match.
In the opening round of the Monte Carlo Masters, Medvedev is facing fellow Russian player Karen Khachanov, the world No. 25 and silver medalist at the 2020 Olympics.
