Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan has suggested that strikes to the back of the head should be allowed in the sport.
Rogan questioned the current ban, stating, “I’m not sure if hitting the back of the head should be banned – it doesn’t make sense to me, and it should be allowed. If you discuss this with a neuroscientist, they’d say it’s a particularly vulnerable area. But aren’t the temples? Aren’t the eyes? They are just as vulnerable.” Rogan`s comments were reported by Bloody Elbow.
