In an on-court interview, Pegula congratulated Sabalenka, saying with a smile: “Congratulations, Aryna, to you and your team. Three finals – that`s amazing! Honestly, right now I don`t feel like loving you,” and then added, “but you really are the best tennis player in the world, and it`s no accident. You keep inspiring everyone to become better. Congratulations on these wonderful two weeks here and also on a great tournament in Indian Wells. Your play over the last month has been truly impressive!”

Previously, Pegula was defeated by Sabalenka in the final of the Cincinnati Masters in 2024 (3-6, 5-7), as well as in the decisive match at the US Open 2024 (5-7, 5-7).

This final was the third for Pegula this season. Earlier, she lost in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide and won the title at the WTA 250 tournament in Austin.
