World No. 6 Jessica Pegula recently shared her reflections following her challenging victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament held in Wuhan. The match concluded with a score of 7/5, 3/6, 6/3 in Pegula`s favor, a win that also brought their head-to-head record to an even 3-3.
“I can`t remember the last time I played a two-set match,” Pegula remarked, referencing her previous three-set encounter against Ajla Tomljanovic in the second round of the Beijing WTA 1000 event. “But I`ve been fighting incredibly hard, and I`ve faced many excellent opponents. Today, the conditions shifted due to the closed roof, and I believe it took us some time to adjust. However, after that initial period, I felt the level of play remained very high until the match`s conclusion. I`m just happy to have crossed the finish line.”
