She expressed concern over the severity of these messages, noting the connection to sports betting and the immense financial stakes involved. She questions why athletes should endure daily threats regardless of match outcomes.
Maneiro recounted receiving specific threats, including messages about knowing her address, harming her pet, and targeting her mother. She highlights the disbelief of those outside the sports world when she shares these experiences, emphasizing that while it might not affect every single player, it is a widespread issue for the vast majority, estimating it impacts 99.9% of players.
