World No. 5 Jasmine Paolini made history by becoming the first Italian woman since Raffaella Reggi in 1985 to clinch both the singles and doubles crowns at the prestigious Rome tournament.
In the singles final of the WTA 1000 clay-court event in Rome, Paolini defeated American Coco Gauff in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Her doubles victory came alongside fellow Italian Sara Errani, where they overcame the pairing of Veronika Kudermetova (Russia) and Elise Mertens (Belgium) with a score of 6-4, 7-5 in the decisive match.
Furthermore, Jasmine Paolini is only the sixth player in the Open Era to win both the singles and doubles titles at the Rome tournament in the same year. This marks the first time this rare feat has been accomplished in the 21st century.
