World number four Jack Draper commented on the incident during his Queen`s Club semifinal match against Jiri Lehecka (4/6, 6/4, 5/7). During the encounter, the British player broke his racket, subsequently damaging a digital advertising board and scratching his knee.
“Everything had really built up,” Draper explained regarding the moment. “It was a combination of how I was playing at times, and how much hard work I had put in to reach that stage. I was making a real effort to compose myself and direct my energy effectively.”
“In a situation like that, when you see the ball go past you, it`s tough to think about breaking serve in the following game, even though I was trying.”
“I don`t condone that kind of behavior, but I was feeling that way. I was trying my utmost, fighting for every point, but in the end, the frustration just boiled over.”
