The Carolina Hurricanes are advancing in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup, reaching the Eastern Conference finals, and they`re marking the occasion with social media activity.
Carolina secured their progression by eliminating the top-seeded Washington Capitals in five games. They clinched the series in a thrilling 3-1 victory in Game 5, sealed by Andrei Svechnikov`s deciding goal late in the third period.
Following their Game 5 win, the Hurricanes` social media team took multiple playful digs at their vanquished opponent.
Their initial playful remark occurred right after Thursday`s decisive game concluded. It targeted Washington`s identity, with the team sharing a picture of a keyboard missing the `shift` and `caps lock` keys, captioned “no caps.”
Carolina also used social media to respond to critics of their playing style and to comment on the Capitals` home base, Washington, D.C.
The most pointed jab, however, came on Friday. Replying to a tweet from Washington`s Dulles International Airport, the Hurricanes jokingly suggested that the Capitals would now have an unscheduled trip to Cancun, Mexico – a well-known vacation spot – following their elimination in Game 5.
Carolina is set to play against the winner of the series between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs in the next round.
