Danish tennis star Holger Rune, the champion of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona, Spain, has opened up about his victory. In the final, Rune triumphed over Spain`s Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 7-6(6), 6-2.
Rune admitted that nerves made it challenging for him to find his footing at the start of the match. However, the Danish player managed to regain composure and play his best tennis.
“This win is incredibly significant for me. It was a fantastic match. I was a bit nervous initially because Carlos is playing amazing tennis. I needed to breathe and find my rhythm,” Rune stated.
“When Carlos broke my serve, it actually helped me get into the match and start playing my own game. The first set was a real battle. Winning it and seizing that momentum was crucial. I am very proud of myself,” Rune was quoted by the ATP press service.
