World No. 13 Holger Rune shared his thoughts after defeating Karen Khachanov in the Barcelona Open semi-finals with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
“It was a great match. I played confidently, just like yesterday: hitting the ball hard and putting my opponent off balance. Today, I varied the rhythm of my shots, and it worked against Karen. I used more passing shots, tried to hit different spots to diversify my game. I am very happy to reach the final,” Rune said at the press conference.
The Danish player also commented on returning to the Top 10 next week.
“This match was very important for me: I knew that a victory would return me to the top ten. It added pressure, but also motivated me. In the end, I focused on my game and how I wanted to play the match, because that`s the only thing you can control. I hit confidently with my forehand and backhand, served well, and played tactically correctly. I am very pleased and proud of myself.”
