Manchester United supporters believe they witnessed Ruben Amorim attempting to `tap up` Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
Amorim was seen with his arm around Cunha as they walked through the Old Trafford tunnel at halftime on Sunday.
Wolves secured a 1-0 victory thanks to Pablo Sarabia`s exceptional free-kick, guaranteeing Premier League safety for Cunha and his team this season.
During halftime, with the score still 0-0, Amorim was observed affectionately patting Cunha`s head as the players made their way to the tunnel.
While this could be interpreted as a friendly gesture, it`s unusual for opposing managers and players to interact at halftime.
One fan commented: “Amorim is literally tapping him up ๐.”
Another fan humorously added: “He`s going to replace Alejandro Garnacho in our starting lineup next season.”
A third fan chimed in: “Amorim is begging him to join ๐.”
United fans also expressed excitement over a video that appeared to show Cunha waving to the Old Trafford crowd before the game began.
Cunha has been reportedly linked with a move to Man Utd, with his future at Wolves uncertain.
The Brazilian forward has been a standout performer for Wolves this season, despite the club`s struggles near the bottom of the league table.
Last week, he posted a photo on his Instagram story with the message: โTime to be happy, I will follow my dreams, not yours… So stay cool.”
Wolves fans reacted angrily to this post, leading to an apology from Cunha.
Cunha`s impressive tally of 14 goals in 27 Premier League appearances has been crucial in lifting Wolves away from relegation danger, with their survival confirmed on Sunday.
The 25-year-old signed a new four-year contract in January, making him the highest-paid player in Wolves` history.
However, the contract includes a ยฃ62.5 million minimum release clause, which is widely anticipated to be triggered by several clubs when the transfer window opens again.
Arsenal, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest are also believed to be interested in him following his impressive performances for Wolves.
