Former world No. 6 player Gilles Simon believes that Carlos Alcaraz is being unfairly judged when he doesn`t win.
“The challenge with players like him is the intense spotlight. Expectations become incredibly high. Alcaraz has already won four Grand Slam titles, which is astonishing for his age. He`s achieved incredible things and is capable of even more.”
“Every time a player of his caliber loses, it`s blown out of proportion, as if he`s expected to win every single match. I don’t see it that way. We know what he’s capable of. Ultimately, everyone loves him, and when he doesn`t win, we get disappointed and then unfairly criticize him. I find this unjust,” Simon stated, as reported by Tennis365.
Simon also shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner’s return after his doping suspension.
“He will play excellently. During his suspension, he’s been training, essentially having a three-month preparation period. He’ll need a few matches to regain his rhythm, but I’m confident he’ll find it quickly. He will win again, return to his previous level, and play wonderfully again because this isn’t an injury, but a suspension. He is healthy and has had time to work hard.”
