UFC welterweight contender Ian Garry spoke about his recent win against Carlos Prates and announced he will serve as the backup fighter for the upcoming title clash between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena scheduled for May 10th at UFC 315 in Montreal, Canada.
“Carlos is a legend I respect; he was on an excellent winning streak,” Garry said. “But I stated I would outclass him, and I feel I accomplished that.”
He continued, “My primary objective in this sport is to demonstrate that I am a genuine fighter. The spirit of Irish warriors flows through me. What`s next? I stepped up on 21 days` notice against Shavkat, then 25 days` notice against Carlos, and in two weeks, I`ll head to Canada to be the official backup for the title fight. I am the next in line for that shot!” Garry added after the bout.
Recall that Garry secured the victory over Prates via a unanimous decision from the judges.
