World No. 46 Gael Monfils triumphed over Spaniard Jaume Munar in the third round of the Miami tournament, with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(1).
This victory marks the fifth time in his career that the Frenchman has advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open, and the first time he has reached this stage since 2016.
At 38 years old, Monfils is the second oldest player to reach the Round of 16 at a Masters level tournament. He is only surpassed by Ivo Karlovic, who achieved this feat at the age of 40 at Indian Wells.
Monfils is set to compete against Sebastian Korda for a spot in the quarterfinals.
