Former Russian national football team forward Fedor Smolov shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the Shanghai Masters tournament. Smolov made his debut as a commentator during the event, covering matches for BB Tennis.
“The Shanghai Masters has now wrapped up. I thoroughly enjoyed my first stint as a commentator. My colleagues were incredibly helpful, and the entire experience was superb,” Smolov remarked.
“Naturally, there`s a hint of disappointment that Daniil Medvedev couldn`t secure the win, especially after showcasing some truly exceptional tennis. However, his relentless play against Rinderknech wore his opponent down so much that it arguably paved the way for Valentin Vacherot to claim a well-deserved victory. It was an undeniable sensation, yet this is precisely what makes sport so captivating and beautiful. Anyone can be considered a favorite, and on paper, there might appear to be significant gaps in ranking and skill, but as we`ve seen, those with the perceived advantage don`t always triumph. My heartfelt congratulations to Valentin Vacherot on his incredible win, and to myself on a successful commentary debut,” Smolov stated via his Telegram channel.
