Everton Football Club has released a powerful statement condemning the “threatening” abuse directed at the wife of their striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sandra Calvert-Lewin, aged 28, reportedly received significant negative reactions from some fans on social media. This reaction followed a post she made after Everton`s final home game at Goodison Park.
The Swiss model shared a photograph of her 28-year-old husband, who appeared as a late substitute in the team`s 2-0 win against Southampton. In her post, she highlighted his achievements:
“30 goals at Goodison. Top 3 ever. They might not shout about it – but we`re proud every single day.”
After receiving abusive messages, Sandra further expressed her support for Calvert-Lewin. The player`s contract is set to expire this summer, leading to speculation about a potential free transfer, with Newcastle among the rumored destinations.
Sandra, a prominent model who previously dated former Arsenal and Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, added a message emphasizing her personal perspective:
“I`ve seen the unseen moments – the recovery, the doubt, the strength it took to keep going. The world saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin the footballer. I see the man I love. And I`m endlessly proud of both.”
In response to these events, Everton issued their statement sharply criticizing the unacceptable comments targeting Calvert-Lewin`s partner.
The club`s statement read:
“Everton Football Club strongly condemns the threatening, racist and misogynistic abuse directed towards the wife of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on social media.
“This sinister and intimidating behaviour is not only deeply hurtful and distressing, it is also criminal — and does not represent the values of Everton or the overwhelming majority of our supporters.
“The Club has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discriminatory and abuse behaviour.
“We are working closely with Merseyside Police and the Premier League to ensure the individuals responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions.
“Threats or abuse of any kind — whether online or in person — are completely unacceptable and have no place in our game or in society.
“We will continue to offer our full support to Dominic and his family.”
A related point mentioned is that player Liam Delap is rumored to prefer a transfer to Everton over Manchester United and Chelsea.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sandra have been a couple for several years. They welcomed their first child together in 2023, got engaged in June 2024, and were married in March in a small registry office ceremony attended by close friends and family.
